In Monday’s episode of The Daily T, Camilla and Tim are joined by Hannah Furness, The Telegraph’s Royal Editor. They discuss Andy Burnham’s suggestion that he would consider issuing a formal apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade. The trio talk about how his remarks could affect the remainder of the King’s nine-day Caribbean tour. Hannah tells the hosts that, although protests have so far been relatively muted, the Prime Minister’s comments have put the monarch in “a quite uncomfortable position”. Camilla and Tim also discuss Emma Reynolds’s suggestion that employers are not “working people”, reigniting the row over Labour’s definition of the term and who should bear the burden of tax rises.
